Sydney weekend with friends

Our weekend in Sydney 11 and 12 February 2017

A while ago we decided to head off to Sydney with our very good friends Libby and Ian to take in the sights and shoot some photos.

Arrival

We stayed in a fantastic Air BnB at 141 Bayswater Road, Rushcutters Bay.  It was a lovely two bedroom apartment.  As luck would have it a great breakfast restaurant was just over the road.

We took Ubers around most of the time which worked really well and was pretty cheap shared among the four of us.

As we had arrived late in the afternoon we decided on an easy dinner and got takeaway from the pizzeria that was just outside our accommodation and as luck would have it, it was Elvis night so while we waited for our order we watched some amazing Elvis performances.  The food was pretty bloody good too.  If you ever get the opportunity I would definitely recommend Elvis Pizza Cabaret Restaurant.

First day in Sydney

Sydney Opera House and Circular Quay

After an interesting night with the air con going off during the night and waking like we were in a sauna we headed over the road to breakfast.  It was a lovely way to start the day with a delicious breakfast and of course coffee.

Once we had fed and watered we headed into the city and wandered around the waterfront and took in the sights.  We voted to take the paid tour around the Opera House, turned out to be a great decision as the tour was amazing, something I would totally recommending doing if you get the chance. The intricacies of the timber work and the exterior tiles are a marvel.  The tour guide had recommended the current show BARBU.  So we decided to take a chance and see it.  Plus if we booked we would get a discount.  OMG I have not laughed that much in a very long time.  Brilliant 10/10 performance.

Walking around the waterfront at sunset with the Harbour Bridge was terrific. It is a magical place.  We had dinner down by the waterfront and loved sitting watching all the people. Then it was an Uber back to our digs for the evening.

Second day in Sydney

Queen Victoria Market and Sydney Tower

After a great sleep in with the working air con, we headed across the road for another nice leisurely breakfast.  We enjoyed it so much yesterday we couldn't wait to do it all over again.

We grabbed an UBER and headed into the city.  We walked from the waterfront to Sydney Tower and headed up.  Wow what a view.  It was a lovely clear day so the visibility was perfect.  Although it was busy we still managed to get great views.

Once we had had enough of that we walked to Queen Victoria Market for a spot of shopping and some lunch.  We had lunch in an open air cafe in the middle of the mall.  The food was delicious and we sat back and watched all the people.  Before we moved on we had to visit Haigh's Chocolate shop.  Mmm so much yum.

It was almost time for the weekend to come to an end so we UBER'd back to the apartment grabbed all our bags, and then it was off to the airport in another UBER.

What a fantastic weekend that went way too quick.  Can't wait to do it all again.
