Day 19 | New York first full day

We had a slow start this morning and went up to the roof to admire the view. We are lucky to have access to the roof top on our apartment building. We have 360 view right around New Jersey and right over to New York.

This morning we set out on the PATH to 33rd St and had a bit of a wander. A couple of the carriages have been completely decked out with Christmas decorations. O’Regan and Angus went to scout a few souvenir shops and potential lunch spots. McKay and Jemmz wanted to check out a couple of shops.

Then there was the lunch at Jacks. A buffet, $10 a pound arrangement with some specialty areas like Sushi, Italian, Chinese and general groceries. It was a confusing experience. Angus asked a server about a little individual dessert – is it a cheesecake? “Could be, I just don’t know” was the helpful reply.

We stopped in to get the Metro tickets for the Manhattan subway. Another $30 for the seven days unlimited rides. Then we went over to the B & H Electronics shop – a massive camera and video store. Rosie’s eyes were as wide as saucers.

We wandered up to Times Square and soaked up the ambience even though it is a bit chilly. Of course the lights are amazing on the buildings but there is also a bit of action as new people are always arriving.

On our way back down to the subway station we walked past the Macy’s window displaying all the Christmas windows. It was so busy with all the people and Christmas carols. Loving the Christmas spirit, everyone wishes you Happy Holidays here.

Rosie fell in love with a new phone at the Oculus Apple store so now we’ve a new phone to get sorted. There’s a Christmas Acapella group on a stage with a large following. We finished up the evening picking up some groceries at Wholefoods and Target downtown by the One World building before catching the PATH back to New Jersey.
