An afternoon at Gardners Falls, Maleny
I wanted to go to a waterfall today, somewhere near Brisbane. So the winner was Gardener Falls at Maleny. It is approximately a one and half hour drive away.
We headed off around lunchtime and upon arriving realised how popular the falls were today as it was over 30 deg C and the perfect place to cool down. It was so busy the carpark was full and we had to park up the road a way and walk down.
There we so many people enjoying the day, having a picnic, swimming, jumping and swinging into the water.
It was fun watching the brave swing off the sides on the flimsy rope swing and splash into the water, you could see it was a lot of fun. The more courageous even getting a somersault in.
We made our way around the edge with some sure footwork and parked up on a rocky outcrop with a good view back up the falls. We chatted to some people as they tried to traverse the falls like a slide realising it may have looked easy and smooth but was far from it with a few ouches and oohs as they passed.
It was time for some food as we were getting a bit peckish. It was a bit of a hike back to the car but the exercise was good for us. After a quick drive into Maleny we found a lovely cafe called 3 Maple Cafe, Maleny and enjoyed a coffee and some lunch (https://www.facebook.com/maple3cafe/). The food was delicious and the prices reasonable. It was lovely to sit on the deck in the warm afternoon. We noticed a few spots of rain and a big grey cloud moving in. Nothing much eventuated but it was a great place to watch from.
Time to head home now. Traffic was much heavier on the way home but a great way to spend an afternoon. We will be back that's for sure.
Hope you enjoy my photos.
